Learn how to request a change to your medical coverage due to a life event.
If you have a qualifying life event, you may need to add/remove dependents from your coverage or request a different policy. To learn more about what is considered a qualifying life event, click here.
Qualifying life events may require additional documentation. It will be your carrier's discretion if your request is accepted.
Requesting coverage change
To request a change in your medical coverage, log in to your benefitbay account.
You will be navigated to your coverage page. In the top right corner, click the blue "Coverage change requests" button.
You will be able to see any pending requests. To start a new request, click the blue "Start new request" button in the top right corner.
You will be navigated to the selection of your qualifying life event. Please select the option for the event you need to request a change for.
Select the option that fits your change from the drop-down menu. Click the blue "Continue" button at the bottom of the page.
Complete all text fields for the request, then click the blue "Confirm changes and submit request" button at the bottom of the screen.
Providing all the required data and documents will allow our enrollment team to submit your request in a timely manner to the carrier. Our enrollment team cannot submit your request without this information.

Monitoring coverage requests
After submitting a request, please monitor your benefitbay account and your email to respond to requests from your carrier for additional information.
Login to your benefitbay account, in the coverage tab, click the blue "Coverage change requests" button in the top right corner of the screen.
You will see the requests you have added. Click the white "View" on the request you would like to review.
You will see the detailed information for your request. You can see any notes our enrollment team may have added for your request. You can upload additional documentation by selecting the white "+Upload additional documents" in the middle of the screen.
Cancelling your coverage request
After making a coverage change report, your circumstances may change and you may choose to cancel your request.
Login to your benefitbay account, in the coverage tab, click the blue "Coverage change requests" button in the top right corner of the screen.
You will see the requests you have added. Click the white "View" on the request you would like to cancel.
To cancel your change request, click the white "Request cancellation" button on the top right corner of the screen.
If this option is not available, it may indicate your carrier has already processed your request. Please contact support@benefitbay.com to be connected with our team.
Once you select the cancellation button, you will be asked to confirm, select "OK." You will see the status will change to "CANCELLATION REQUESTED."
